Skagit Growers is a division of Mike and Jean’s Berry Farm focused on the growing, packing, and cooling of vegetables, primarily Fresh Market Cauliflower, "Cascade Snow". Mike and Jean Youngquist have been focused on improving cooling, packaging, and quality because of their desire to be competitive with produce shipped in from out of our state. In fact, we ship 50% of our product outside the Northwest to points in California as well as well as some East Coast locations. We unequivocally feel we can consistently deliver a high quality product to our loyal Northwest customers. We want to be recognized by all of our discerning Northwest customers as a Food Alliance approved supplier and an active participant in the Puget Sound Fresh Marketing Campaign. We are dedicated and certified as growers who enhance the environment through sustainable farming practices, and we constantly use the most scientific means to reduce the use of chemicals. Further, we are leaders in being socially responsible in the way we treat our workers including an award winning daycare facility. We feel consumers are demanding these actions and are willing to search for those suppliers that provide Food Alliance approved products. Consumers indicate they are willing to pay a few cents extra that are necessary for products to be produced in this manner. |
